Why we suggest yearly exams?
At Lakeside Animal Hospital we feel that just like people, pets receive a yearly exam also.  These exams are used to check the overall health of your pet and to make sure that your pet does not have any medical problems that you are unaware of.  This can be a good time to ask any questions you may have about your pets health or discuss any changes or problems that might be going on.

Why does my pet need an exam to refill it's medication?
Legally dispensing and prescribing a prescription requires a Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship which involves an annual exam.  Routine exams are periodic blood tests are especially important for pets receiving medications because of the possibility of side effects or changes in their health.

Appointment Policy:

  • We primarily operate by appointments - except on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
  • We ask that you arrive 10 minutes before you appointment.
  • All dogs must be on a leash and properly controlled while in the waiting area.
  • All cats must be in appropriate cat carriers

1. Payment is expected when services are rendered. In order to focus on our patients' needs, customer service and minimizing costs, we do not bill.

2. We accept debit cards, credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover) and cash. All cards must be signed by the owner of the card.

Did you know that heartworm season is here?

Did you know that heartworm is spread by mosquitoes? When a heartworm positive mosquitoe bites a dog the larvae is left on the skin which can migrate into the blood stream.

Did you know that even if your dog is on heartworm prevention year around, your dog should still be tested?  Nothing is 100% guaranteed so why take the risk; we suggest testing every other year.

Did you know that your dog might have heartworm and you may not even know it? It can take years to have your dog show signs of being heartworm positive.

Did you know that heartworm are real worms that can live in your pet's heart?  Gross we know.

If you have any questions or want to discuss heartworm with us please give us a call and we would be more than happy to help.
